Windows 11 - The Drawback Edition

5 Things I hate about Windows 11

First full post of the year, it’s been a long time…Let’s get right into it shall we.

I have been running windows on my personal rig (PC) for around a good couple of months now/ since December 2021, I must say there is still a lot of bugs and issues that Microsoft needs to work on, that is my opinion. I would love to hear your opinion on Windows 11.

Here are 5 things I hate about Windows 11:

The name “Windows 11”.

I hoped that Microsoft would use the Roman numeral ‘XI’. Firstly, this sounds way better than 11 or Microsoft could have just could have used their project name ‘Cobalt’.

Windows Search Feature.

We have seen this in Windows 10 and to be very open with you, I use it all the time, it is quick way of getting around or finding something like ‘control panel’ (which Microsoft like to hide).

At the time of writing this, the search function defaults the web results first aka the Bing result first before finding that word document on your PC. This is something I would personally change if Microsoft gave the end user (me and you) the option to change default search on the search feature.

Local Admin Accounts.

I love having a local Admin account – If I am the only one using the PC why shouldn’t I have access to the full thing and not be limited to what available to a set if users. With Windows 11, under some versions such as ‘Windows 11 Home’, you will need to create an office 365 (outlook/Hotmail account) and be forced to sign in you are not able create a local account.

Right click task bar for task manger.

I am unable to right click on my task bar and click on task manger on Windows 11 – when troubleshooting misbehaving applications/ processes I use task manager to terminate misbehaving apps or speeds of RAM, CPU etc... Now I am forced to use Ctrl+Alt+Delete or Ctrl+Shift+Escape.

System Clock.

As a budding gamer, I need to see what time/how long I spent playing games. This system clock only displays on the monitor that you have set to as default display, your second and third monitor does not show the time.

To summaries, these 5 issues may sound like I am nit-picking at Microsoft however, these are useful feature to me and what I used on a daily basis. It is really a shame that it’s not already incorporated in windows 11 by default.
